Assets built for long mine life
KCM Plc operates one of the world’s largest integrated copper and cobalt operations. Anchored by the highest-grade resources and a long legacy of operations, Konkola’s asset base transforms geological advantage into seamless, end-to-end production capability.
Situated in Zambia’s Copperbelt, Konkola Plc’s operations form an integrated industrial platform. The Konkola Complex in Chililabombwe, the Nchanga Complex in Chingola, the Nkana Refinery in Kitwe, and the Nampundwe mine near Lusaka together create a multi-node network that spans the copper value chain, from ore extraction to refined metal recovery.
This combination of resource quality, infrastructure access, and integrated processing capability underpins Konkola Plc’s position as a highly competitive, long-term supplier of critical minerals to global markets, including Western-aligned end markets.

Geographical Advantage
A century-established copper heartland
Copperbelt
All core assets sit within Zambia’s Copperbelt Province, among the world’s longest-operating copper districts. The region has sustained continuous production for more than a century and offers geological continuity, experienced & skilled workforce, and mature supporting infrastructure.
Lobito Corridor
The Lobito Corridor provides a western logistics route linking Copperbelt production centers to Atlantic export sites. This connection broadens market access, strengthens export optionality, and supports stable movement of copper products into international trade channels.

Compliant mining territory
As a conflict-free mining jurisdiction, Zambia offers long-term stability, with copper positioned as a central pillar of national economic policy. The country maintains a mature legal and regulatory framework that supports long-cycle, capital-intensive mining operations.
Zambia’s 2031 copper vision
The Government of the Republic of Zambia has set out plans to expand national copper output over the coming decade, supported by infrastructure investment, power development, and permitting reform. These priorities align with the long-term development trajectory of Konkola Plc’s asset base.
An integrated mining and processing portfolio

Konkola is a high-grade underground copper mining complex located in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province and will represent the cornerstone of our asset base. The operation at Konkola comprises underground mining and concentrator, supported by legacy infrastructure. With a long operating history and significant resource potential, Konkola underpins current production while providing a platform for future expansion through ongoing resource conversion and mine development initiatives.
Nchanga is a fully integrated mining, processing, and Tailings Leach Plant complex, combining open-pit and underground mining with concentrators, smelting, tailings reprocessing, and associated facilities. The site plays a central role in the system, receiving material from multiple operations and optimizing recovery through metallurgical flexibility. Its integration enables efficient processing, improved metal recovery, and operational resilience across varying ore sources.
The Nkana Refinery produces high-purity copper cathode and represents the final stage of processing within the asset system. Located in Kitwe, the refinery receives anode and intermediate material from upstream operations and converts it into finished metal for domestic use and international export, ensuring consistent quality and market-ready output.
Nampundwe is a small-scale underground operation producing pyrite, which is used as a critical input in smelting operations. The mine supports system-wide metallurgical efficiency by supplementing sulfur requirements, strengthening integration across assets and enhancing overall processing performance.
